Flying the old MXL Sport 11 introduced in 1983, is a lot like visiting an old girl
friend that you haven't seen in 10 years. The Quicksilver line was one of the first craft
that I flew and fell in love with.

It is a high wing, wide open cockpit, pusher in a
trigear configuration. Seating is side by side with dual rudder pedals, and throttles with
a central stick.
Construction is bolt together aluminum tube covered in dacron sail cloth.
Building times come in at between 75 and 125 hours.
There are literally thousands of these
type of aircraft flying all over the world. This craft has been test to the max, in the
air, on the ground, and on the computer.
A T.U.F. VIEW
The MXL Sport11 can be powered by either the 503 Rotax or 582. With the 503 this baby
takes off in less than 150 feet climbs at 650 feet per minute and will come back to cruise
at around 55 m.p.h.. Even with its double surfaced wing stall is just over 30 m.p.h.
The
view from the cockpit might take a little getting use to, since you are right out in the
open, as might the idea of flying while being supported by wires. But for out and out fun
flying from backyards to regular airports this little bird fits the bill.
