The Flightstar 11 which was introduced in 1992,
traces its roots back to the early days of ultralight aviation.
It was one
of the first mass produced craft offered by a financially secure company.
The design utilizes aluminum tube bolt together construction covered in dacron
sail cloth. Seating is side by side in a 42 inch wide cabin.
Building times are in the 150 to 200 hour range.
The latest production models have folding wings for easy storage. The
craft can be purchased in two configurations completely enclosed or with a
fiberglass nose cone and windshield.

A T.U.F. VIEW
Standard power supplied on the Flightstar is the 503 dual carb Rotax. With
this engine take off distance is about 250 feet climb around 650 feet per
minute with a 65 m.p.h. cruise. The tricycle landing gear is welded steel
construction, using bungee cord for suspension.
The engine is mounted on
top and in front of the pilot, cabin noise is moderate. The factory
indicates that it has delivered over 700 kits to date. Good factory, solid
design. My preference here is for a Rotax engine over the HKS - I have
found the HKS to be noisy, with a lot of vibration, and with a lack of
power, but is good on fuel and I have experience running one for nearly
1,000 hours.
