Kolb Aircraft
introduced the Ultra Star in the early 80's
as a replacement for the Kolb Flyer. The
Ultra Star has a 4130 chromoly steel front
section, mated to an aluminum boom tube
running to the tail empennage. It is a high
wing pusher with the engine mounted low and
inverted directly behind the pilot.
The Ultra Star has a three axis control
system with rudder pedals a side mount
stick, and right hand throttle. |
The double
surfaced wings use a large 5' round aluminum
tube for the leading edge, which the ribs
are riveted to.
The wings and tail are covered in standard
aircraft covering materials. The Ultra Star
came with a number of different suspension
systems from fiberglass rods, to metal
spring steel.
The Ultra Star has single strut wings, which
can be easily folded by one person in as
little as 10 minutes. Which is great for
those with limited space to store their
aircraft.
Building times 350 to 400 hours. |
