Striplin Aircraft - LONE RANGER & SKY RANGER
An enclosed cockpit aircraft, the Lone Ranger is a
single-place, high-wing ultralight powered by a Cuyuna 430R (30 hp., 429
cc.) engine. A two-place version is the Sky Ranger, and both models
feature
a front-mounted powerplant on a platform above and in front of the main
spar.
The Ranger aircraft components are molded from fiberglass
epoxy composites, using cloth and a brush, but there is no welding or
machining to perform.
Interior mating and structures are added by epoxing
them to the preformed skins, while following a step-by-step instructional
manual.
Incorporating a conventional fin and foot-operated rudder, the aircraft
also has a horizontal stabilizer and elevator, which is activated by a side
stick with 7-inch wrist movement.
Ailerons are flush mounted in the wing,
controlled by the side stick, and have differential movement. Rudder and
elevator control inputs are transmitted via cable, while the ailerons are
positioned by a system of pushrods and cables.

Ground handling is done with a steerable nosewheel linked to the rudder bar.
The tricycle landing gear wheels are standard inflatable tube and tire type.
The pylon-mounted engine drives the prop via
a shaft extension which places its
rotational plane in front of the pilot's
feet near the nose of the fuselage. An
ignition switch and throttle are mounted on
the left arm rest, while a starter rope is
pulled down from the overhead center section
for cockpit starting.
A choke control is also located in the
overhead section, and a fuel gauge,
indicating levels in both tanks, is on a
side rib in the cockpit.

An air speed indicator, included in the kit, can be located on
the instrument panel along with other optional instruments such as altimeter and
variometer.
