The Pelican
ultralight was built in Canada by Ultravia
Manufacturing of Quebec. Le Pelican is a
single seat, high wing, strut braced
taildragger in a tractor configuration.
Although I have seen a wire braced model. |
Construction
in the fuselage and tail section uses
aluminum tubes riveted together.
The wing uses aluminum D cell construction
with foam ribs and aluminum cap strips. The
Pelican is covered in standard aircraft
fabric covering material.
Le Pelican can be flown with or without the
lexan doors making comfortable flying in all
seasons. Controls are standard three axis
stick and rudder. The Pelican has 1/3 span
ailerons. |
|
Suspension is via fiberglass rods
on the mail wheels, and the tail wheel is steerable. Initially
it was powered by a Briggs and Stratton twin cylinder generator
engine. The Pelican was also offered in the Super Pelican model
which was powered by a VW conversion. |
