Ignition timing adjustment:
Loosen the armature plate mounting screws and turn the plate until the
breaker points just open with the specified piston position.
The instant of points opening can be determined with a clean, greaseless
feeler blade of 0.001 in. (0.03 mm) thick-ness which at this instant, can be
easily withdrawn. Do NOT USE PAPER!
The break-away gap must be checked with the specified breaker point opening and correct ignition timing adjustment. It
can be easily checked by sliding a strip of cardboard of corresponding thickness between
the pole shoes of the ignition armature and the fly-wheel.
a) Mounting the magneto onto the engine:
The initial installation of the magneto is carried out by the engine manufacturer.
Special installation instructions
with dimensions are at his disposal. If however, the flywheel and the armature plate are removed from the engine for any reason
care must be taken in reinstalling so that when sliding the armature plate over and when mounting the flywheel onto the crankshaft, the cam slider will
not be damaged.
Therefore, lift the cam slider a little. The magneto armature plate is fitted into the engine casing concentric to the crankshaft, centered and secured with 2 and 3 screws in slots. The mounting screws of the armature plate should sit centrally in the slots and initially, loosely secured. They will be tightened only after the final ignition adjustment has been made.
