STARTING
Before starting engine, ensure the fuel tank is filled with the correct
gasoline/oil mixture.
CAUTION: The engines only lubrication is from oil mixed with the
gasoline. The engine will be damaged if oil is not added to the fuel in
the specified quantity.
DO NOT USE OIL DESIGNED FOR WATER-COOLED ENGINES, SUCH AS FOR OUTBOARD
MOTORS, USE HIGH GRADE OIL FOR AIR-COOLED ENGINES CHAIN SAWS, LAWN
MOWERS, MOTOR- CYCLES, ETC.
OIL MIXTURE "25:1 DURING BREAK-IN PERIOD"
1. STARTING ENGINE, COLD OR HOT:
a) Open fuel valve from supply tank.
b) Open throttle slightly more than required for idle speed.
c) Close choke.
d) Make sure the kill switch is in an open position.
e) Pull starter a few times slowly to bring fresh mix into the engine.
After each pull, permit the rope to recoil gradually into the housing. Do
not release and let rope snap back.
f) Open choke about 1/3 to 1/2
g) Start engine by pulling rope fast, firm and steady,
h) If engine does not start, repeat Cg1.
2. STARTING ENGINE AFTER TANK HAS RUN DRY:
a) If an engine is operated until the fuel tank is empty, it will be
necessary to pull the starter several times with the choke closed (hot or cold engine) to refill the carburetor.
b) Start the engine as outlined above, after it fires once.
3. ENGINE WARM-UP AND OPERATION:
a) As engine warms up, open choke slowly until it is wide open.
b) After engine has warmed up, adjust idle speed and fuel/air mixture,
as described in carburetor adjustment instructions, until engine runs
smoothly.
c) After adjustment is completed, engine should accept instantaneous
acceleration to full throttle without hesitation. If not, increase the
idle speed by adjusting the idle speed and mixture screws.
WALBRO CARBURETOR PERFORMANCE AND ADJUSTMENT ON SOLO ENGINE:
SOLO ENGINE 210 cc tested at the factory under the following
conditions:
REDUCTION UNIT:
MUFFLER:
COOLING:
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT:
3-1 Ratio, belt type
Tuned exhaust
PROPELLER ONLY
Main jet Or) 1 turn open - Low jet CL) 1 turn open
NOTES: 1. Engine will 4-cycle between 4200 and 4500 RPM (CROSS-OVER LOW
to HIGH jet).
2. Main jet CR) adjustments must be done at full throttle - bring
engine to max. RPM by adjusting main jet. After max. RPM is reached, open
1/8 of a turn. Low jet CL) remains at 1 turn open.
3. At 280 C ambient temperature, 2400 C sparkplug temperature is
acceptable.
4. Use a good 2-cycle oil designed for air-cooled engines at a ratio of
30:1 (25:1 during break-in period).
IMPORTANT: All adjustments and tests were performed at sea level
elevation. Higher elevation require "leaning" of
carburetor.
