lightening and tell how close you came to getting hit. If you don't hear
it you got hit, so never mind. |

Just over from the
"Orbitair" I found the M-19 or Flying Squirrel
The M-19 is a single-place, high-wing,
conventional fixed gear (taildragger) aircraft powered by the Volkswagen
engine converted for aircraft use. Recommended horsepower is in the
range of 50-60 HP. Any less than that will probably work, but will be
borderline in performance. Any more than that will be extra weight and
fuel consumption, and won't gain you much of value. The basic design
does not include brakes, wing flaps, or trim.

Several years ago a new company came to
Oshkosh with a brand new design - the Skyraider by Flying K Enterprises.
At that time I did an interview with Stace Schrader about his craft that
looked a lot like a single place version of the venerable Kitfox.
Stace is no longer with Flying K - he and his father have started a new
company called "Rocky Mountain Wings, LLC and are now supplying the
light plane market with two new designs the MIFYTER and the Ridge
Runner.

MIFYTER and Ridge Runner click here. |

Looking around the commercial display area
I came across another new design to the U.S. recreational aviation
market the Aeroprackt A-22 from the Ukraine - now being distributed by
John Hunter of Spectrum Aircraft in Sebring Florida.

Another new
plane being imported into the U.S. - this time from
Korea is the Comet 21 - imported by U.S. Sky Gear Inc.
I was unable to locate the owner for an interview but
was able to pick up some literature.
