Another new plane being imported into the U.S. - this time from Korea is
the Comet 21 - imported by U.S. sky Gear Inc. I was unable to locate the
owner for an interview but was able to pick up some literature.
The literature reports that the Comet 21
is a tri gear, high wing, side by side seating two place featuring an
all metal fuselage, covered using composite materials, and a all
aluminum wing. The cabin is 44 inches wide.
They are offering two models the Comet
21 and Comet 21 UL with the basic difference being the UL having a 480
lb empty weight with both units having an 1100 lb. gross weight. The
craft has a 10 gallon fuel tank.
Two engine options are available the
Jabiru 2200 80 hp engine and the 582 Rotax. With these power plants the
plane cruises at between 110 and 120 mph, climbs out at between 900 and
1200 feet per minute and stalls with flaps down at 38 mph.
They company only had a partially
assembled plane on display and did not have anything flying at the show.
