Pegasus PAL 95 Aeromotor

American Sportscopter International Inc was at Airventure  with their Ultrasport 254/331/496 model helicopters. On display in prototype stage, for the helicopter, was a new engine the Pal 95 Aeromotor from New Zealand.

The engine is a twin cylinder, air cooled, fuel injected, four stroke engine featuring a computer controlled electronic ignition, with electric start. The engine puts out 65 h.p. at 5200 rpm. and comes in at an all out weight of 136 lbs. Sportcopter

The engine when supplied from New Zealand is available with a belt reduction drive, but on the Sportcopter's it will be running direct drive into "Sportcopter" gear box to run the rotor blades etc.

According to factory representatives the "power curve" is one of the main reasons they are doing the R & D work with the engine. It apparently follows very closely the power need of the "helicopter." Another benefit is the reported 1500 hour TBO of the engine.
