Quicksilver Aircraft back in production:
|
I have very fond memories of the Quicksilver MX, have flown many
thousands of hours in various two place and single place models, and have soloed several
hundred students in this very forgiving and fun flying plane.
It has been very disheartening over the years to see the manufacturer of the Quicksilver
line go in and out of business - REGULARLY.
In most cases due to the company being to TOP heavy in management, with sales projections
etc more suited to a Disney Production than that of an ultralight manufacturer.
Thus it was nice to be introduced to the new "blue collar" owners of
Quicksilver!
It appears that this group has their act together, and are not afraid to get a little
grease on their elbows, and dirt on the clothes, down on the factory production line.
According to factory representatives the full Quicksilver line is again available. This
includes the single and two place Sprint, the GT 400 and 500, The MX Sport, and MXL Sport
11.
For those not familiar with these craft the Sprint/Sport models are wire braced aircraft
while the GT line use large boom tube and strut style construction. Either style of kit
comes complete with the most comprehensive assembly manuals ever seen in the industry and
the kits are shipped on vacumn sealed, and labeled boards for easy of identification
and assembly.
