Aero Cors-Air USA para glider engines

One of the fastest growing segments of our sport has to be "paragliders." They have been quite popular in Europe and Britain for many years, due to their ease of storage, and transportation. With this popularity suppliers for parts and accessories have begun producing products, especially designed for these types of craft.

In many cases these manufacturers and designers are "end users," that is they own and fly powered paragliders, case in point - Oscar Meschiari from Italy. "Not satisfied with existing PPG engines, and being a PPG pilot, he designed and now manufacturers his own engines to some of the most stringent standards in the industry."

According to the American distributor of the Cors-Air engines Aero Cors-Air USA, "these engines are not mass produced, each engine is bench tested for 15 minutes prior to delivery, and come with a one year warranty."

The engines are available in both liquid cooled and air cooled versions, come with a charging system, and tuned exhaust as standard equipment.  Belt reduction drives of 1.8 to 1 and 2.2 to one are available.

According to Alex Varv the U.S. distributor the engines have been in production for nearly three years now. Some of the more advanced features of the engines include:
1. the use of a reed valve fuel system, which helps prevent flooding.
2. six cylinder transfers ports for better combustion, cooling and increased power.
3. an electronic ignition and spark advance system for smoother running at all rpm's.
4. a self pressurized fuel system to prevent fuel starvation.
5. a charging system for charging a battery allowing operation of an electric star, radio, GPS, camera, strobes etc.
6. the engine uses silver plated bearings, copper plated connecting rods, Nicasil coated cylinders, chrome plated and bevelled piston rings, which help contribute to its 500 hour TBO.
7. the engine is suspended via a "five rubber mount suspension system" to help absorb vibration and "P" factor.
8. the aircooled versions of the engines can be converted to liquid cooled by replacing the cylinder had and cylinder.
