Sixchuter
introduces Discovery Powerhawk - While not quite completed the new
Discovery Powerhawk by Sixchuter is "not another powered parachute."
according to factory representatives this is "a next generation
powerchute." The frame has been completely redesigned. A new
frame style is being introduced in the Powerhawk that is,
"stronger, lighter, and more durable."
"The Discovery Powerhawk series when completed,
will be the first PPC in the world to have a complete enclosure! This
will mean better pilot comfort do to less noise. The enclosure will also
allow the addition of a heater for winter flying which will increase the
seasonal use of the plane."
Other improvements that will be found on the
Discovery Powerhawk include large tundra tires, a space age
looking console for instruments, a steering wheel replaces the standard
stick, the new molded body style also adds strength, and yet still
allows for easy preflights, with the pilot only having to lift the front
end to inspect the necessary areas.
Pilot and passenger seating has also been
modified so that the pilot and passenger have their own compartment's -
not interfering in any way with each other. An additional safety factor
is an added high pylon around the passenger area, in case of roll over.
Ease of access in and out of the plane is also improved with the
addition of folding seat supports.
The new style fuselage is less parts, meaning
easier and quicker assembly by the customer. The CG tubes are the largest used in the industry. Another innovation is
the ground clearance between the prop and ground, allowing placement on
a trailer without the prop guards dragging the ground. It also
allows pilots to lay out their chutes without worrying about the prop
blast moving the chute on start up. In fact the factory claims "you
can apply nearly 1/2 throttle without disturbing the canopy!"
The motor mount assembly has been designed to
carry the cables and wiring internally, protecting them from the
elements.
The plane will officially be released in July
2000, and will be available through the Sixchuter dealer network.
